DigiFarm has unveiled the industry’s first Apple MFi (Made for iPad) certified Bluetooth device and iOS NTRIP App to stream RTK data to any GPS receiver.
The Beacon v3.0 will deliver RTK corrections without the need for expensive radios or cellular modems and eliminate signal problems and line shifts. DigiFarm’s Beacon v3.0 has been granted MFi status for use with newer generation iPads and iPhones.
The Beacon v3.0 was designed to take advantage of a changing industry where tablets are becoming a core component in a lot of tractor cabs. Commonly these devices are paired up with a field computer for enhanced data collection and cloud based data transfer.
The DigiFarm NTRIP app will run in the background while using the iPad for other applications. The Beacon v3.0 will require a RTK unlocked GPS receiver and adapter cable if needed.
David Dusanek, DigiFarm’s President, states, “Cellular RTK has changed the way that many growers get their RTK signal. And now, with the Beacon, we are pushing cellular RTK communications to the next level to make RTK easier, more available, and more affordable than ever before.”
Dusanek also says, “Companies like Precision Planting have made the iPad common place in tractor and combine cabs with their innovations. It just makes sense that the industry would migrate to a common platform, such as the iPad, to manage more aspects of their business”
The Beacon v3.0, at launch, will be available for the DigiFarm VBN network only. The VBN network is a “VRS” style network consisting of stations in 25 states and 2 provinces which covers over 400 million acres and holds claim as the largest continuous RTK network in the USA.
As an introductory offer for the Beacon v3.0 DigiFarm will include free use of the VBN network for 6 months from the start of the program, with all free subscriptions ending March 1st. App and Beacon will be available by Late September. For more information see our website www.godigifarm.com or your local Precision Ag dealer.
