PLAINFIELD, Ill., November 8, 2012 — Spectrum Technologies, Inc., introduces FieldScout GreenIndex+, an iOS app that instantly captures and processes images from an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad and computes the DGCI (Dark Green Color Index) of leaves, using technology licensed from the University of Arkansas. The GreenIndex+ also computes an equivalent SPAD value and estimates the nitrogen requirement for corn during the V6 through V10 growth stages.

Mike Thurow introduces the FieldScout GreenIndex+ smartphone app:

GreenIndex+ offers digital image analysis of leaves, providing growers with an accurate, low-cost method for managing in-season fertility and helps deliver improved yield, lower nitrogen costs, and increased profits.  All data is logged and geo-referenced, and can be emailed to a PC for further analysis.

“We are very excited to introduce our new GreenIndex+ app,” says Mike Thurow, President & CEO, Spectrum Technologies, Inc. “GreenIndex+ is a prime example of our product ingenuity and our continued ability to provide innovative, solution-based measurement products to growers. We have received a great deal of positive feedback from growers and seed companies.”

Customers will purchase the GreenIndex+ app from the Apple App Store. The DGCI calculation requires a background board with standard reference color disks.  The FieldScout GreenIndex+ Board can be purchased from Spectrum Technologies. The total package will cost less than $150.00.
