Technology editor Noah Newman sits down with Greenfield Robotics’ co-founder and head of innovation Clint Brauer for a conversation about the company’s autonomous BOTONY fleet of robots, and why they’re a great fit for strip-till and no-till systems.
The third-generation farmer and tech entrepreneur made it his mission to find a safer, chemical-free solution for weed control through autonomous robots after his father developed Parkinson’s after years of using toxic chemicals on his farm. The bots, which are also capable of nutrient microspraying, combine expertise in machine vision, AI, robotics, software and modern farming to achieve Brauer’s mission.
During this conversation, Brauer explains how the bots work, details how they’re being deployed on farms in 11 states and shares his outlook for the future of the technology and autonomy in farming.
