USDA's crop progress report for the week ended September 5 reported 74% of corn dented, below the 77% reported dented in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn dented in this week was 69%.
USDA has reported some 95% of corn crops were in the dough stage, below the 97% reported doughing in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn doughing in the week was 94%.
Some 21% of corn crops were reported mature, below the 23% reported mature in the same week last year.
Around 45% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 14% in "excellent" condition and 27% in "fair condition."
The report stated 96% of soybeans were setting pods in the same week, below the 98% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 96%.
Some 18% of soybean crops were reportedly dropping leaves, in line with the 18% reported dropping leaves in the same week last year.
Some 46% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 11% in "excellent" condition and 29% in "fair condition."
