This Purdue University article explores the rapidly evolving ag retail landscape, breaking the business down into 4 models. “For decades, it was reasonable to describe agricultural retail as a relatively homogeneous activity in which retailers sold inputs, provided agronomic advice and competed locally. That description no longer fits. Revenue mix, governance structure, geographic footprint, service intensity and technology integration now vary widely, fundamentally redefining how value is created.”
