UK-Based Company Aims to Fill Precision Gap for Smaller Farms
Rural Radio Network TV sits down with Adam Keene from Agricision, a UK-based manufacturer of GPS systems. Agricision’s onTrak system uses a portable lightbar and an app to guide farmers in the field as they spread fertilizer, spray, mow and more. Keene says it gives smaller farmers a more affordable entry point to precision tech.
College Students Get the Inside Scoop on AI
Students at the Univ. of Wisconsin-River Falls are learning all about AI and cutting-edge precision tech thanks to a partnership with WinField United, a major provider of ag products, technology and other resources. “One year, they are your students, then a year or two later, they’re your colleagues and you’re working with them every day in the field, which is really fun,” says Brandt Berghuis, a Univ. of Wisconsin-River Falls assistant professor of crop science. “They take our students out into the field and they light up with passion explaining what they have learned to the next generation of people in the ag industry.”
MSU 13-Part Course Delivers Practical Drone Insights to Farmers
Raney Rapp from Delta Farm Press put together this story on Mississippi State’s free 13-part online video course on drones, which covers everything from nozzle calibration to troubleshooting. “I stumbled on the course randomly just drinking my coffee and scrolling Youtube one morning,” says Neil Flannagan, who uses spray drones on his 1,800-acre farm in Sandusky, Mich. “I really liked the way they brought the feel of that university-level, in-depth research to the field.”
