Iteris and GEOSYS have partnered to provide enhanced weather content through the integration of Iteris’ ClearAg application programming interfaces (APIs) into GEOSYS’ Croptical monitoring application.

The GEOSYS Croptical monitoring application provides growers fast access to comprehensive, insightful and accurate digital farming solutions. The application allows growers to track crop condition and precipitation, temperature and growing degree days, while comparing current crop conditions and weather patterns to past seasons. The enhanced weather offering will be available in March 2016.

GEOSYS will apply Iteris’ ClearAg APIs to produce an enhanced Croptical monitoring application with field-level weather data and weather maps. While the application already provides daily weather data for regions – both historical and forecast – the augmented application will leverage ClearAg state-of-the-art weather forecast models, giving users reliable resources to predict rain events and monitor growing degrees in order to plan ahead for effective agriculture management.

“Our dual expertise — in agriculture and the high-tech world — is at the core of our identity and our commitment to clients,” said Cécile Tartarin, product manager at GEOSYS. “It gives us a clear vision of the high stakes and rapidly changing landscape of the entire agriculture industry. It is imperative for us to provide high-quality data to complement our other offerings, and the integration of Iteris’ ClearAg APIs into the Croptical monitoring application builds upon our goal of offering the highest quality data.”

Through the ClearAg APIs, Iteris will provide GEOSYS with an open, consistent and precise set of interfaces from which they can effectively run their global business. Specifically, ClearAg weather and map APIs will support crop production decisions by enhancing weather content in the GEOSYS Croptical monitoring application, further helping producers find problem areas sooner, protect yield potential, and optimize return on investment. The use of ClearAg products help growers define, defend and clarify what is happening in their farm fields from a current, historical and predictive perspective.

Tom Blair, senior vice president of Iteris’ Performance Analytics Division, commented: “GEOSYS’ best-in-class digital agriculture solutions are based on the most accurate data and expert analysis. Combined with ClearAg’s weather data and map APIs, GEOSYS’ enhanced Croptical monitoring application will allow growers to make even more informed decisions and address crop production issues at key stages of the crop growth cycle. This partnership with a global leader like GEOSYS also reflects the strength of Iteris’ reputable information solutions in the agricultural market.”

ClearAg is a decision support application for precision farming built upon the ClearAg EMPower adaptive forecasting engine, an advanced learning platform for agriculture. As new information becomes available, the ClearAg system adapts to provide the most accurate, location-based information available on a worldwide basis. ClearAg’s patented technologies combine global, multi-sensor weather analyses, ensemble-based weather forecasting, customized soil modeling, and a staff of expert meteorologists to create what the firm believes to be the most accurate, science-based environmental information available. ClearAg leverages Iteris’ precision weather and global soil content with the power of agronomic models to solve complex agricultural challenges.
