USDA has reported some 91% of corn crops silking as of the week ended August 1, in line with the 91% reported silking in the same week last year. The 5-year average for corn silking in the week was 86%.
Around 38% of corn crops were in the dough stage, above the 37% in the same week last year and above the 5-year average of 33%.
Around 47% of corn crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 15% in "excellent" condition and 27% in "fair condition."
The report stated 86% of soybeans were blooming in the same week, above the 84% reported blooming in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybean blooming in this week was 82%.
Some 58% of soybeans were reportedly setting pods, above the 57% reported setting pods in the same week last year. The 5-year average for soybeans setting pods in this week was 52%.
Some 48% of soybean crops were reported in "good" condition, with another 12% in "excellent" condition and 28% in "fair condition."
