Chris Hunsaker grew up on an 8,000-acre sugarbeet and wheat farm in southern Idaho. After 18 years as CEO of Double L — a potato equipment manufacturing company — Hunsaker left the machinery industry when he grew frustrated with the way things were going.
“We were doing the same thing over and over again, making everything bigger, dressing it up and expecting farmers to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy it. I felt like we weren’t solving the problem very well.”
Hunsaker eventually co-founded Acuitus Ag, a company that delivers software tools to farms, supply chain partners and OEMs. He currently serves as CEO. We caught up with Hunsaker (see video below) at the FEMA Supply Summit & Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla., to discuss his journey in the ag machinery industry and software business, precision technology trends and where he sees autonomy and automation headed in the next 5 years.
