Precision technology is taking off for Birkey’s Farm Store, which has 19 locations across Illinois, Indiana and Missouri.
“Twenty years ago, precision farming didn't exist,” says John Boelens, Birkey’s precision farming specialist. “Each year it gets more integrated into new tractors and combines. It's up to farmers to use it. Equipment comes with features like yield monitors and auto steer. Every year interest and demand in less waste and more accuracy and efficiency goes up.”
