RDO Equipment Co.’s team of experts in John Deere equipment and technology demonstrated how RDO helps farmers optimize efficiency and adopt innovative solutions during the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show in West Fargo, N.D.
“Customers we’ve partnered with continue to report success as they’ve adopted John Deere technology and equipment solutions to complete vital jobs, from growing food, shaping landscapes or building the spaces we all need, we’re committed to demonstrating the support and service solutions that help these customers get these jobs done,” says Kevin Johnston, RDO Vice President of Midwest Agriculture.
Johnston highlights the specific equipment and technology solutions RDO brought to Big Iron, the largest farm show in the upper Midwest, to create experiences for attendees, including the following:
- Ran obstacle course for operators to complete different tasks in the seat of John Deere’s compact construction equipment, including a skid steer and mini excavator
- Offered ride-and-drive opportunities in John Deere 8R tractors equipped with AutoPath Guidance Planner that optimizes machine control for every pass
- Observed autonomous tillage passes completed with a
John Deere 9RX 640 and 2660VT, these tractors were controlled and monitored from a phone without an operator in the cab - Experienced John Deere’s See & Spray technology in action, using cameras and machine learning to target individual weeds and reduce herbicide use
- Explored the RDO Truck Center’s interactive display, offering a firsthand look at what it’s like to partner with a full-service Mack, Volvo and Isuzu heavy-duty truck dealership.
“At RDO, we’re here to meet farmers where they are in their technology adoption today and help them build a plan to onboard new technology solutions incrementally through each growing season,” says Tony Kramer, RDO’s planting product manager and host of the Agriculture Technology podcast. “Events like Big Iron give us a chance to show how these tools work in real-world conditions and how they can make a difference in day-to-day operations.”
Johnston and Midwest team members said that demos like this aren’t about just getting people in the seat of the cab, but about connecting with farmers and contractors to discover how RDO can partner to deliver the equipment, service and support solutions so they can do the jobs that grow and build our communities.
