No Substitute for Spending Time Alongside Farmers
John Fulton, Ohio State precision ag expert and 2026 Precision Farming Dealer Summit speaker, is hard at work in the field studying the latest precision technologies. “One of the most rewarding parts of my job is getting out of the office and into the field,” he shares in this LinkedIn post. “While data analysis, meetings, and reports are important, there’s no substitute for spending time alongside farmers and experiencing firsthand the challenges and opportunities they face every growing season.” Fulton is working with Sentinel Ag on a nitrogen management study, and Precision Planting and AgGateway on a data management study.
AI’s Impact on Dealership Processes
“AI doesn't magically fix broken processes. It amplifies whatever already exists. If your service workflow, parts process, rental operations, inspections, or customer communication aren't documented and consistent, AI will simply make those inconsistencies happen faster,” writes Jon Rossi, founder of Digital Iron Group, in response to a recent email question about using AI at the dealership.
Driverless Weeding Robots Bring New Tool to East Coast Farms
For as long as farmers have grown crops, they've had to fight weeds for them — pulling, hoeing, spraying, and tilling to keep unwanted plants from choking out corn, soybeans, and vegetables. Now, University of Vermont (UVM) Extension is showing Vermont growers a new option: a fleet of driverless robots that can weed a field almost entirely on their own.
See & Spray 1.0 vs. See & Spray 2.0: What’s Changed?
On this episode of The FarmCast, 21st Century Equipment’s Hayden Fox dives into the major differences between John Deere’s See & Spray Gen 1 and Gen 2 machines.
Precision Analysis: ‘Adoption Gap is Bigger Than We Think’
AgTech expert Patrick Honcoop was motivated to write this piece about precision technology usage after watching the latest season of the popular show Clarkson’s Farm. “What can we learn from Clarkson’s Farm Season 5? The biggest takeaway is that the challenge facing our industry is not a lack of innovation…the bigger challenge is awareness, adoption, workflow integration and support.”
