Inside the Precision Ag Class at Iowa State
Future precision ag specialists are getting a crash course on satellite and correction accuracy at Iowa State Univ. Bob Gunzenhauser, associate professor of precision ag, shared this update on LinkedIn: “Today in the TSM 4330 Precision Agriculture class, we deployed the GPS Carts…this helped to cement concepts they learned earlier about GNSS constellations, differential correction and data communication.”
A Webinar on the Current State of AI in Agriculture
During this webinar, Alex Thomasson, director of the Agricultural Autonomy Institute at Mississippi State Univ., presents the findings of a peer-reviewed policy brief on AI in agriculture. Thomasson examines how AI is already embedded across U.S. crop production, and he makes the case for federal action on broadband access, data ownership and workforce training.
Why Small Dealers Have an Edge in Today’s Market
Bigger is sometimes assumed to be better, but in today’s market, that’s not necessarily the case, says Zach Hetterick in his latest Harvesting Potential blog. “I work with equipment dealerships of all sizes, and there is one thing I keep noticing: small equipment dealers often have an easier time moving quickly,” he says. “It’s one of the natural advantages of being smaller. As businesses grow, more locations create more layers, more people participate in decisions, and teams put more processes in place to create consistency. All of that can be necessary, but it also creates distance between the problem and the person who can actually do something about it. In a strong market, you can get away with some of that. In a tougher market, that distance starts getting expensive.”
Deere Combine Automation a Hot Topic at Big Iron Farm Show
On this episode of RDO Equipment Co.’s Agriculture Technology Podcast, Tony Kramer, Jack Stetz and Jared Roelofs highlight new John Deere combine and tractor technology at the Big Iron Farm Show.
