Ag Geospatial Technology at the college is a two-year AAS degree (68 credits) for students who want to work in the precision ag industry as precision ag technicians or specialists. Five required courses (Intro to Precision Farming, Intro to GIS, Geospatial Data Collection, Ag Spatial Analysis and Internship) provide extensive hands-on experience in precision ag. Three additional elective courses in advanced software, hardware and remote sensing teach practical installation, troubleshooting and analysis skills. Certifications in electronics and software are used to assure quality. Students have access to Deere, CNH, Trimble, TopCon, New Leader, Ag Leader, and Hagie precision ag equipment. Kirkwood has also invested in an Unmanned Aerial System (drone) to collect infrared imagery.
