Beck’s Hybrids Experimenting with Autonomy
Will Hirschfeld, innovation project manager with Beck’s Hybrids, shared this update on LinkedIn about the company’s experimentation with autonomy. “We’ve been working with Carbon Robotics and their AutoTractor Kit, retrofitting one of our John Deere 8RX tractors for autonomous tillage,” Hirschfeld says. “We put the system to work across more than 3,000 acres — giving our team the opportunity to learn what autonomy looks like at a meaningful scale in real farming conditions.”
‘The Smarter the Machine, the Simpler it Should Be’
Simpler is better when it comes to cutting-edge precision technology. That’s the big takeaway from this blog from Andrew Bate, founder of SwarmFarm Robotics. “Good autonomy should not turn a farmer into a full-time robot supervisor,” Bate says. “It should give them the confidence to send a machine into the paddock and get on with the hundreds of other things demanding their attention.”
Is the Ag Equipment Market Finally Turning Around?
Clinton Griffiths of Farm Journal has conversations with Casey Seymour, Greg "Machinery Pete" Peterson, and Curt Blades of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers discussing what trends could mean for farmers, dealers and the broader equipment industry.
Precision Specialist Shares Insights at Local Growers Conference
Bill Rogers goes 1-on-1 with precision specialist Erick Haas in this White’s Farm Supply video, filmed on location at the New York Corn and Soybean Growers Conference. Haas details some of the conversations he’s having with customers about precision technology, including big questions about data management.
AGCO CEO Encourages Young Farmers to Embrace Precision Technology
AGCO CEO Eric Hansotia tells Brownfield Ag News that working with young farmers is one of the company’s top priorities. “We think they’re our future,” he says. “For a lot of our solutions we have focus groups that target them and say, ‘How do you want to manage data? How do you want to interface with the machine?” Hansotia, who grew up on a dairy farm in central Wisconsin, shares more about AGCO’s precision approach in this interview from the Farm Progress Show.
