Alex Thomas, Tri-Green Equipment (Athens, Ala.)
I had the opportunity to spend several days with Alex and 5 of his customers during a series of farm visits in northwest Alabama, and what impressed me most was the depth of trust he has built with farmers and the practical expertise he brings to every interaction. The growers he serves operate in challenging conditions, including highly variable soils where building organic matter can be difficult and fields that are often small, irregularly shaped, and complex to manage. In these conditions, precision agriculture isn't a nice-to-have — it is essential for helping farmers maximize productivity and make the most of every acre.
Alex goes above and beyond by ensuring that precision ag systems are configured correctly and working as intended for each individual operation. He understands that technology only creates value if it is implemented properly, and he spends the time necessary to help farmers get there. Throughout our visit, it was clear that Alex knows his customers exceptionally well — not just their equipment, but their goals, challenges, field conditions, and operational preferences.
What stood out most was how several times farmers would raise a specific question or operational challenge, and Alex would immediately begin troubleshooting. Whether the discussion involved technology setup, the inevitable challenges with log-in issues, or otherwise, he consistently had thoughtful recommendations and a clear understanding of the customer's operation. He didn't need to look up account details or history — he already knew the farm, the equipment being used, and the context necessary to help solve the problem.
Alex combines deep technical knowledge with a genuine commitment to farmer success. His customers view him as a trusted advisor because he is responsive, knowledgeable, and invested in helping them achieve better outcomes. The confidence he demonstrates, coupled with the strong relationships he has built, makes him an outstanding representative of the precision ag profession and highly deserving of recognition.
