As precision farming dealers, what types of remote service or technology support do you offer to farm customers and how are you charging for this service?

Since becoming the technology editor for Farm Equipment and No-Till Farmer last year, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know numerous precision farming technicians — many in person — during dealer visits and industry events.

Precision farming can be handled and defined in a variety of ways from one dealer to the next. We sat down with five precision farming specialists, across all colors, to ask them how they define precision farming, what they look for in their precision technicians & where the technology is headed.

Editor’s Note: While we usually talk to a production farmer for this feature in PFD, for this issue we spoke with a researcher who is developing equipment that works in concert with specific hybrid seeds, utilizing test plots as his laboratory.

What types of winter precision maintenance services does your dealership offer and how are you, as precision farming dealers, successfully selling those services to farm customers?
